Wondering what to plant this fall? Let Chris Pax give you some ideas just in time for fall shopping at the https://adkinsarboretumorg.presencehost.net/programs_events/event_calendar.html/event/2014/09/13/native-plant-nursery-fall-open-house" >Native Plant Nursery Open House. Fall and winter are great times to enjoy the beauty that native plants contribute to the landscape—from the gloriously rich colors of autumn leaves to the diverse textures of seed pods that lure birds to the garden.

Learn about natives that bloom in fall, and how the form, structure, and bark of different trees and shrubs create winter interest in your home landscape. Also learn which plants are better for clay or for sandy soil, which prefer dry or wet areas, and how much sun they need.

This program is a wonderful way to expand your palette of natives for the landscape, and is also an excellent prerequisite to the https://adkinsarboretumorg.presencehost.net/programs_events/event_calendar.html/event/2014/10/12/landscape-design-workshop”>Landscape Design Workshop on October 12.

Chris is a professional landscape designer with a master’s degree in sustainable landscape design and ten years’ experience designing with native plants. She is lead designer of the Arboretum’s https://adkinsarboretumorg.presencehost.net/native_plant_resources/design_center.html”>Native Landscape Design Center.

This free program is held in the Visitor's Center gallery.
